CASE STUDY
Sound Mark Registration for a Media Organization
First sound mark (jingle) registration for a Saudi media organization. Protecting sonic identity as a distinctive asset.
Challenge
A Saudi media organization developed a short sound mark (jingle) identifying its broadcast programs. The challenge: registering audio as a trademark — an unusual path in Saudi Arabia.
Approach
We prepared the file in waveform format describing the sound technically, and submitted a legal argument demonstrating the mark's source-identifying distinctiveness. We presented similar examples from international decisions.
Outcome
The Authority accepted the registration — among the first sound marks registered in Saudi Arabia. The client now uses it legally and protects itself from audio imitation.
